I seem to go in spurts

October 31, 2007

I am just realizing that I have posted a ton this week. Some weeks not so much! LOL

I just wanted to post about my frustrations with Dell!! I bought my laptop almost 3 years ago with a 3 year warranty. Glad that I did, because in that THREE year span, I have had 3 mother boards, 1 CD Rom drive, 1 heat sync and my video card replaced. I would have had the screen replaced just yesterday, but for some reason Dell cancelled the order for it! So, my screen will be replaced too. Good thing is, one month shy of my warranty expiration, I almost have a new computer! The bad thing is that the gentleman who came to “fix” it yesterday, BROKE it instead! ;) He didn’t connect my power supply back correctly, so once my battery died, that was it! GRRRRR… So, now I am using hubby’s computer!! :) Anyway…the moral to my story is to never buy a Dell again! ;) Or if you do, buy a warranty.

On another note, it is Halloween! :) Alex will be dressed as a monkey. Look for some pictures to come later on! :) We will be going to church for their Halleluia party! :) I think Alex will enjoy it. It really isn’t meant for his age group per say, but he will have fun anyway!

Tomorrow starts NaBloPoMo! Wish me luck as I attempt to post once a day for the month of November! :)

Oh, and a note about the giveaway…WOW!! I am just floored at the response! This is my first time participating! It is so much fun. I have found some neat blogs from my comments, and once it all dies down, I will be venturing over to some of them! I love to meet new people, so this has been a fun experience. Maybe if I am lucky (which I NEVER am) I will win at least ONE prize I have signed up for! Hehe…

Also…see my header changed colors…I am getting in the mood for Christmas and won’t be surprised if my tree is up next weekend! LOL  So…look for some Christmasy things to take over this blog!!! :)

Hope you all have a safe day today! :)

Weigh in Day-Week 6

October 31, 2007

Wow, another week gone by and I didn’t do so well on the scale, but WOW! I have to say, I have turned over a new leaf! I have gone to the gym every morning since Saturday! I have even been getting up at 4:15 to go!!! That makes me feel good, even though the scale didn’t…next week is another week! :) I just wanted to do a recap of my losses since this challenge started to make me feel better! :)     Oh, and the scale says I went up 2 lbs.!  :(

Starting weight: 197

Week 1: 196.4

Week 2: 194.6

Week 3: 192.6

Week 4: 191.4

Week 5: 190.8

Looking at that makes me feel good! Just seeing the total and the progression helps me a lot! I haven’t done too bad with eating this week. I could do better…and I could also drink more water! So, I can see that when I change focus to another thing, I kinda lose sight of something else! I have been focused on food and water, and now I changed to exercise. I have to find the right balance!!!

Tried out my new mixer! *updated*

October 30, 2007

I made this:

Blueberry Oat Bread

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. allspice
3/4 cup low fat milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 Tbls. grated orange peel
2 eggs
1 1/4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries (not thawed)

Combine dry ingredients in mixer bowl. Add milk, butter, orange peel and eggs. Beat on low for 30 seconds. With spoon, gently stir in blueberries. Spoon batter into bread pan that has been greased on bottom only. Bake at 350 for 55-65 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.

Yield: 16 servings
Per serving: About 196 cal, 3 g pro, 31 g carb, 7 g fat, 27 mg chol, 177 mg sod

Franz loves blueberries, so we always have some in the freezer. I found this recipe and couldn’t pass it up! I did not use orange peel, as I didn’t have any, I also didn’t have allspice, so I substituted cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg! :) It is still baking, but I will post an update once I have tasted it!!! :) It SMELLS wonderful! :)

*update*

OK.  It cooled and Alex and I had a sample.  Delish! :)   I like it just the way it is.  Of course, a big slab of melted butter would have made it all better, but there is already 1 stick IN the bread…so I can’t justify that! LOL    Alex just LOVED it! :)   He is eating some more as I type!!  So, I suggest you try this one! :)

I’ve been tagged!!

October 29, 2007

By Kelly over at The Barefoot Mama for a Picture of ME meme! :) I thought I should probably participate! ;) To play along, post a photo of yourself that captures “the real you” and write a bit about it. Afterwards, tag three to five friends and let them know to play along! Posting a baby or childhood photo is acceptable, since some people may be uncomfortable sharing a current photo.

Here is a picture of Alex and I we took today when we were playing around. I love to have fun, with him…with Franz, friends and family! :) I am learning in life that I need to loosen up and not take everything so seriously! :)

Now, I am going to tag a few folks to share a picture as well! :)

Word Watchers

October 29, 2007

I didn’t post last week. I am not really sure why, but I am excited to get back into tucking more of God’s word in my heart! I have pulled out many that I have memorized already, and can’t wait to learn some more!! :) His word is alive and it amazes me each time I crack open my bible! :)

Today’s verse is

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Weightloss is still going well! I am really enjoying the gym, and today even got up at 4:30 to go!!
